The quality mesh constraint is used to override the global mesh quality value in some part of the simulation region. Normally the meshing parameters are set in the Solver settings. However, if a different mesh quality is required in the part of the simulation region, a quality mesh constraint region can be specified. For example, specifying quality much smaller than the global quality may be useful in high aspect ratio domains with small thickness and large area, in order to avoid oversampling the mesh. This object is best used in conjunction with the global mesh option “disable interface mesh autorefinement”.
Note: This object only applies to the 2D simulation region. |
General tab
- TRIANGLE QUALITY: The quality of a mesh triangle, defined as the minimum allowed angle in the triangular mesh cells. The minimum quality represents approximately 0.057-degree minimum angle, while the maximum quality represents 30 degrees minimum angle. The minimum quality represents 1:1000 ratio between the smaller and the larger cathetus (leg) if the triangle is a right triangle.

Volume Type
This option allows the user to parametrize the mesh constraint position and span based on an existing volume.
- SOLID: Select the target solid. The solid can be a geometric object or a structure group.
- DOMAIN: Select the target domain. The reference geometry is the volume of the selected domain.
- ALL DOMAIN: The reference geometry is the volume of all domains.
- COORDINATES: Select the target domain by specifying a point within the region. This is done by scripting.
