The grating_coupler photonic model uses transmission spectrum fitting to model a grating coupler element. The model uses the data file provided to fit the transmission spectrum of the element for the mode that the element is designed for, which is referred to as the main polarization. This model also takes the transmission of the secondary polarization and reflections into account.
