Implementation Details
The element Optical Attenuator attenuates the input signal by the amount of value according to the user's setting. Following is the demonstration system in the example file [[optical_attenuator.icp]] to illustrate the working principle and effect of this element and the property of this element.
The attenuation of this element is set to be 3 dB in the example, and according to the figure above, the optical power meters measure a 3 dB attenuation after this element. Another property in the standard setting of this element is the "return loss", which defines the reflection caused by this element. The "return loss" can be enabled or disabled.
