The spar_fixed photonic model is best suited for modelling elements which are entirely described by a single set of s-parameters for a fixed configuration. It provides a simple method of creating passive photonic elements including group-delay information. Some applications of this model include:
- Fixed Waveguide Y-Branches or MMIs
- Fixed Star Couplers
- Fixed Ring Resonators
- Waveguide Transitions or Terminations
- Coupling devices (Edge Couplers, Grating Couplers)
This model can support the creation of models that include phase information, as well as models that neglect it. Furthermore, the group delay between ports can be accurately modelled with this element.
In this model, the s-parameters can only be a function of frequency, mode and port combination in Optical N Port S-Parameter format. For any additional parameterization (e.g. geometrical parameters, temperature, etc.), use the sparsweep_pcell photonic model.
