New material models for Titanium dioxide (TiO2) and Silicon nitride (Si3N4) have been added to the optical material database in FDTD, and, MODE.They have also been added to the electrical and thermal material database and the optical material database in the Finite-Element IDE (FE IDE) supporting CHARGE, HEAT, FEEM, and DGTD simulations.
SYSTEM Suite Enhancements
New Traveling Wave Optical Modulator Measured (TWOMM) primitive in INTERCONNECT supports distributed electrode model to accurately model phase shifters and Mach-Zehnder modulators utilizing traveling wave electrodes. The new model captures the nonlinear junction capacitances in these types of devices and works for both small-signal and large-signal RF excitations.
CML Compiler updates
The electrical_phase_shifter photonic model now supports compact model generation of variable optical attenuators (VOAs) for both INTERCONNECT and the photonic Verilog-A platform.
New tunable_ring_switch photonic model specifically tailored to model tunable ring switch devices formed of by two coupled ring modulators.
