Improved Interop Remote API Authentication: The Lumerical Python API interop remote server now requires TLS mutual authentication, which improves the security of this workflow.
Performance Improvement to the Object Tree: The performance of adding elements to the Object Tree in Ansys Lumerical FDTD™, Ansys Lumerical MODE™, and Ansys Lumerical Multiphysics™ is significantly improved in the case when the added objects do not have unique names. This is especially useful for cases when lots of objects need to be added, for example, in a loop. We observed an up to 20x performance improvement when the number of objects is large (~1000).
Ansys Lumerical FDTD™
Ansys Cloud Burst Compute™:
Spot Instances: Spot Instances offer a cost-effective way to run FDTD simulations by utilizing unused cloud resources at reduced prices. Users trade off speed, accuracy, and cost with the risk of simulation interruption (job and credit loss) since these resources can be reclaimed by the cloud provider at any time. Spot Instances are ideal for fast non-critical simulations where budget savings are a priority. See the User Guide for more information.
3D CAD Modern Viewport:
Import Image: The Import Image is now supported in the Modern Viewport in Lumerical FDTD. You can now get a 3D part representing the object in the Modern viewport.
Import Surface:The Import Surface is now supported in the Modern Viewport in Lumerical FDTD. You can now get a 3D part representing the object in the Modern viewport.
Ansys Lumerical INTERCONNECT™
Traveling Wave Laser Model (TWLM): We have implemented a logarithmic dependence of peak gain on carrier density for the built-in gain of the TWLM element, as a complement to the linear carrier density relationship. This enhancement better reflects real devices, especially at densities much higher than the transparency carrier density.
Ansys Lumerical CML Compiler™
GUI Data Editing Capability: CML Compiler has now the capability of viewing and editing data for different components in the graphical user interface, greatly simplifying the workflow over directly editing the source JSON file. See the documentation for further information on how to use this interface.
PD Compact Model: The phototector_simple model in CML Compiler has been enhanced to support passthrough optical transmission for photodetectors with dual optical ports. You can define the passthrough transmission value to transmit any unabsorbed light through the opposite optical port. A new template, pd_te_c_dual_port has been added to the bundled lumfoundry_template to facilitate compact model generation for photodetectors with dual optical ports.
