In Mie Scattering (FDTD) example, we show polar plots of the scattered field in the far field using a particle surrounded by a homogeneous material. Here we want to show how polar plots can also be obtained If the particle is on a substrate using the same FDTD project file from PSL and Cu Sphere Scattering example.
In this script, we use farfield3d function to project the far field and use polar function to generate polar plots. By running the script, the polar plot can be generated for the associated FDTD simulation. The figure below shows the polar plot for scattering at the wavelength of 633nm in the X-Z plane using a monitor located above a PSL sphere of 155nm diameter on a silicon substrate.
