Overview
Coming with Ansys 2025R1, a new Speos AddIn featuring a "Go to optiSLang" button is available in Ansys Speos.
This button allows users to quickly automate Speos simulations within Ansys optiSLang, allowing them to proceed with e.g., further workflow extensions or optimizations. The button simplifies access to Ansys optiSLang, enhancing efficiency and productivity, while providing a user-friendly interface that ensures consistent and accurate workflow setup, minimizing errors and rework.
Additionally, the plugin offers the option to enhance the Ansys optiSLang workflow by integrating a CAD node for automatic geometry generation and seamless import into Ansys Speos. This CAD update option supports CATIA, Creo, and NX.
Installation
Download the installer from this article, close all open Speos applications and run the installer with administrative rights. The installer will automatically install the AddIn into the installation directory of your Ansys software. Whatch the video for more details.
Please note: If you want to use the CAD update option, please configure your CAD settings in the corresponding CAD node within Ansys optiSLang before running the plugin (e.g., specify the path to the CAD executable).
For guidance on setting up the nodes in optiSLang, see Ansys help for the optiSLang nodes Catia, NX or Creo.
Step-by-Step Guide
Learn how to automate your Speos project using the 'Go to optiSLang' button by following either the video instructions or the step-by-step guide.
Option 1: Video Instructions
Watch this video to see the complete process of using the 'Go to optiSLang' button. If you want to use CAD update option, please see step 8 in the step by step guide.
Option 2: Step-by-Step Guide
Open Speos: Start the Speos software and load your project.
-
Publish Parameter: Navigate to the “Workbench” ribbon and publish the parameter you want to consider in your optiSLang project.
Select the Simulations: Select your simulation(s) to be automated in the Speos tree.
Locate the “Go to optiSLang” Button: Navigate to the “optiSLang” ribbon in the toolbar and find the "Go to optiSLang" button.
Click the Button: Click the "Go to optiSLang" button to open the optiSLang project setup user interface.
Review: Review the selected simulations, published parameters, and responses in the user interface.
Select Computation Type: Select the Speos computation type and define the directory for the optiSLang project in the user interface.
-
Optional, enhanced workflow with CAD tool connection: Enable the “CAD Update” option and select the CAD tool where the geometry should be generated. By activating this option and choosing the CAD tool, the corresponding CAD node is automatically integrated into the optiSLang workflow, creating a fully coupled CAD–Speos process.
(Note: This requires an imported geometry in your Speos project using the “CAD Update” feature in Speos.) -
Project creation: Click the “Create optiSLang project” button in the user interface to start the process.
-
Wait for Setup: Wait until optiSLang creates the project, including the workflow, and the GUI opens. This can take several minutes.
-
Solve Parametric System: The parametric system will be solved automatically (see optiSLang GUI). In case there are no parameter published, the solve will be skipped.
It will also be skipped when the CAD update option is used. In that case, define the CAD parameters manually in the CAD node before running the parametric system.Speos workflow in optiSLang:

-
Extend Project: After the parametric system workflow is finished, you can then extend your optiSLang project using optiSLang wizard functionality.
-
Return to Speos: Go back to your Speos project. See the success message and click “OK” to continue with your Speos model.
