Layer Builder: The Layer Builder application can rotate any geometry around the z-axis, allowing a rotation of GDSII layout files natively. Layer Builder is available within Lumerical FDTD, Lumerical MODE, and Lumerical Multiphysics.
UX/UI: The Ansys Innovation Space (AIS) icons (Knowledge, Forum, Support, Innovation Courses and Learning Hub) and two new documentation icons (Scripting Help and What’s New) have been added to the five Lumerical products. These AIS icons offer easy access to Lumerical Knowledge-Based (KB) articles, photonic forums, Ansys support, and courses. The documentation icons provide access to Scripting Help, and the What’s New presentations, which highlight major features twice a year for R1 and R2 releases. The icons are now part of a new 'Learning and Support' tab, replacing the Resources group in the Design tab, in Lumerical FDTD, Lumerical MODE, and Lumerical Multiphysics, or are added in Help menu for Lumerical INTERCONNECT and Lumerical CML Compiler.
Optics Launcher: The ability to ‘Download and Install’ Lumerical, Zemax, and Speos software from the Optics Launcher has been removed. Instead of the 'Download and Install' option, users are now directed to the Ansys Download Center to get the Ansys Automated Installer, which can be used to install the three Ansys Optics products (Lumerical, Zemax OpticStudio and Speos).
Ansys Lumerical FDTD
Single-Frequency Import Source: Lumerical FDTD can now run GPU simulations with single-frequency import sources populated with Zemax Beam Format (ZBF). All current formats of import sources are supported, but the import source data must be single-frequency (frequency-dependent profile is not currently supported).
DFT monitors: Spatial down sampling for DFT monitors has been corrected for FDTD GPU simulations. This fix reduces the quantity of data collected by a DFT monitor and its memory footprint. Additional automated QA tests have been implemented to ensure its reliability.
Ansys Lumerical INTERCONNECT
Interpolation of S parameters: A new geodesic interpolation method for S parameters is introduced in Lumerical INTERCONNECT. This new method fixes a previous bug that caused the readnportsparameterat and lookupreadnportsparameter script commands to give wrong results when passivity is enforced.
Ansys Lumerical CML Compiler
The CML Compiler compact model templates now include a basic data requirement section for new users. It presents the basic or minimum data required to build a compact model.
