Ansys Optics Launcher available across all three Ansys Optics suites of products (Lumerical, Zemax and Speos): Users can get started with real simulation examples and product trials directly from inside the launcher application.
DEVICE Suite Enhancements
Express mode with GPU support in Ansys Lumerical FDTD: This new simulation mode for FDTD is suitable for execution on a single-card GPU. It offers significant performance improvement compared to CPU-based calculation for specific applications such as photonic integrated circuit (PIC) components.
Non-orthogonal unit cell in Ansys Lumerical RCWA: Users can now define non-orthogonal unit cells (e.g., the primitive unit cell of an hexagonal array) by setting the angle between lattice vectors.
Improved cm-scale metalens design flow with local periodic approximation (LPA): A new plugin for metalens simulation in Zemax OpticStudio based on local phase gradient with data from Ansys Lumerical FDTD or RCWA increases the overall performance of the workflow to handle large metalenses.
Unique names for geometry objects generated by Layer Builder: Multiple objects associated with the same mask layer number generated by the Layer Builder utility now have unique names (GDS pattern_1, GDS pattern_2, etc.) so that they can be easily distinguished.
SYSTEM Suite Enhancements
New Ansys Lumerical CML Compiler Graphical User Interface (GUI): The new intuitive and easy-to-use guided interface includes a status window listing all the elements in the current library and their build status. Users can also deploy new models, rename them and even delete unwanted elements directly from the GUI.
New JSON format for library master file in Ansys Lumerical CML Compiler: The library master file for building compact models libraries with CML Compiler now uses a JSON file format. Users with legacy XML format library master files can still continue to use them (on the command line version), but it is highly recommended to update them to JSON format using the built-in update_data_format option since the GUI version of CML Compiler only supports JSON format of the library master file.
Improved Verilog-A photodetector model generated by Ansys Lumerical CML Compiler: The “photodetector_simple” photonic model in CML Compiler has been upgraded to include shot noise and inter-channel crosstalk in Verilog-A.
New electrical load capability in paramerized ring modulator elements generated by Ansys Lumerical CML Compiler: The “ring_modulator_parameterized” photonic model now supports electrical equivalent circuit definition for co-simulation with Ansys Lumerical INTERCONNECT and Cadence Spectre.
New capabilities in Ansys Lumerical qINTERCONNECT: The biphoton wavefunction and photon pair generation rate can now be calculated for spontaneous four-wave mixing SFWM sources with continuous-wave inputs. Previously, this calculation was only supported for inputs consisting pulsed states of light.
