System Requirements
ANSYS Lumerical Software supports the following operating systems (64-bit editions only):
- Windows® 8.1 and 10
- Windows Server® 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019
- RedHat® Enterprise Linux® 6, 7, and CentOS® 6, 7
New Features - Shared
All Lumerical products are now compatible with Ansys License Manager
All Lumerical products are now compatible with Ansys License Manager, providing new and renewing customers with the convenience of a single licensing solution for all Ansys products.
When using Ansys Enterprise licensing, HPC licenses can be used to conduct concurrent simulations of parametric variations rather than using multiple solver licenses.
Automated data collection workflows (BETA)
New automated data collection workflows make it easy to collect and compile data for photonic compact model generation. The beta release contains three different workflows tailored for three different types of photonic models; waveguide, electrical phase shifter, and passive element based on s-parameter data. The workflows allow users to import measurement data from different sources, enforce physical behavior in their data, and automatically run simulations with Ansys’ Lumerical tools to supplement measurement data. The final output from these workflows can be directly used as inputs to Ansys CML Compiler to generate accurate photonic compact models.
New Features - DEVICE Suite
Ability to use the negative of a GDS pattern in Layer Builder
It is now possible to apply the NOT Boolean operation to a GDS pattern used in the Layer Builder. For more information visit the documentation on the Layer Builder.
New energy density result in Power absorption monitor in DGTD
The additional result “P_tot” available in the DGTD absorption monitor returns the integrated energy density over a specific volume. For more information visit the documentation on the Power absorption monitor in DGTD.
New Features - SYSTEM Suite
CML Compiler supports forward biased electrical phase shifters
The phase_shifter_electrical photonic model in CML Compiler now supports generation of compact models for current injection type phase shifters based on forward biased pn or pin junction devices. Users can now use the same photonic model to create compact models for electrical phase shifters operating either in forward or in reverse bias.
Support for “Netlist and Run” feature in Virtuoso ADE interoperability
Virtuoso ADE interoperability for electro-optical co-simulation with Ansys Lumerical INTERCONNECT now allows user to netlist circuit and run simulation in a single operation by using the ADE built-in “Netlist and Run” feature. This will dramatically simplify the simulation setup for running electro-optical co-simulation of photonic integrated circuits.
New connection expansion for photonic Verilog-A modelling
Schematic connections of photonic Verilog-A elements need to be expanded to support modeling multi-channel, multi-mode, and bi-directional optical signals. In the past, expansion was done by custom netlisting flows and required user to install custom EPDA interface. CML Compiler now generates Verilog-A models with modeling specs for Cadence Spectre to expand schematic connections at the simulator level, which is more efficient and robust. With the new connection expansion, users no longer need to install custom EPDA interface for the use of Verilog-A models.
