Ansys Lumerical is available on Ansys Cloud. The guidelines on this page show the process of using Ansys Lumerical on Ansys Cloud Direct.
Requisites

- Ansys Elastic Currency (AEC)
- Supported Windows computer
Ansys cloud app installation
- Log in to the Ansys Cloud portal.
- Download and Install the Ansys Cloud App into your Windows PC.
Note: Ensure that you are running the latest version of the Ansys Cloud App on your PC. - Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
- Navigate to the Ansys cloud folder from the Start Menu.
- Start the File Transfer Agent.
- Check Cloud Installation.
- Sign in to Ansys cloud with your Ansys account when prompted.
- Press any key to close the command prompt window.
- Sign in to the Ansys cloud portal.
Uploading files
You can upload your files to your preferred region in the cloud beforehand or upload them later when running/launching an Ansys cloud session. This section outlines the process of uploading the files to the cloud before starting a session.
- Log in to the Ansys cloud portal.
- Navigate to "Files" from your Ansys cloud dashboard.
- Under the "Personal Data" tab select the region to upload your files.
- Click "Upload".
- Choose to upload an entire folder or files. You can choose to create a new folder in the cloud for your files.
Note: Ensure that your source folder or file names do not contain special characters. Use English alphanumeric characters. - You will be notified once the upload is completed or if there is an error during the process in the Ansys cloud portal in your browser.
Starting a session
- Log in to the Ansys cloud portal.
- Ensure you have enough Ansys Elastic Currency (AEC) to start your session and run your simulation. Contact your Ansys Account Manager to purchase additional AECs.
- Go to Applications from your dashboard.
- Choose "Cloud Desktop" or "Lumerical" from the "In-browser interactive session" or the "RDP interactive session"
- Session options:
- Session Name: You can change the session name to your desired name.
- Input files: Choose to upload files from your computer or from the region on the cloud storage where you initially uploaded your files.
- File transfer: Select the appropriate file transfer type to upload your files.
- Solver: Choose the appropriate version.
- Hardware: Select the region and machine/resource you want to run your simulation.
- Time: Select the appropriate wall time limit for your session.
- Output: Choose to upload the input files from the VM into your cloud storage.
- Start Session: You can save your current options to use every time you launch a new cloud session. "Start" to create and launch your "session".

Running Ansys Optics
The Ansys Optics Launcher and the Ansys Cloud Drive directory will be shown on the Virtual Machine's desktop for the "In-browser interactive session". Otherwise, the Ansys Optics Launcher will be shown on your local desktop for the "RDP interactive session".
- Open your simulation which will be in the Ansys Cloud drive directory.
- Set your resource configuration for your simulation requirements.
- Run your simulation.
- Do your post and analysis in the cloud or end your session and download the files into your local computer for analysis and post.
Ending a session
- Navigate to the Jobs in your Ansys cloud portal.
- Select the running Job.
- Click "End Session"
- Choose to "end the session with the save option".
Download files
- Navigate to the Jobs in your Ansys cloud portal.
- Select the session/job from which you would like to download the files.
- Select the Files tab on the right.
- Open the Ansys Cloud drive.
- Select the folders or files.
- Click Download.
- Browse to the location on your local computer where you want to save your files.
- Open the simulation/project with the results.
- Do your analysis or view the results on your local computer.
