Figure windows can be generated using the "Plot in New Window" button from a visualizer
window, or from the script using one of the plotting script commands.
Figure windows are less flexible than the visualizer tool since the data that is being plotted
can't be manipulated, although the plot settings can be changed, and the image of the figure
can be exported.
For line plots and vector plots, the toolbar at the top of the figure window is the same
as the one in a visualizer window where you can choose the mouse mode to select data,
zoom into an area of the plot, or pan the view.
You can also reset the plot axes using the zoom extent button.
Data can be exported to an image, or to a MATLAB figure or MATLAB script to plot the
figure.
You need to have a MATLAB license in order to use the MATLAB exporting options from this
menu.
The chart settings button opens the panel where you can set the title, axis labels,
axis limits, and legends.
And you can also set the number of ticks shown along each axis, and other settings such as
plotting the axes in log scale.
For surface plots, also called image plots, there is no toolbar at the top of the figure
window, but instead there is a titlebar "File" and "Setting" menu.
In the "File" menu there is the option of exporting the plot to a JPEG image file.
The "Setting" menu allows you to change the axis range of the plot, set the color map,
set the range of the colour bar, and set the title and axis labels.
The mouse mode is in select mode so you can click and select a region of the plot to zoom
in, right-click to zoom out, and double click to reset the view.
