The simulation file has completed running and is now in Analysis mode.
You can tell that the file is in Analysis mode as the “Run” button is replaced with
the “Switch to layout” button, and data is available from the monitors.
Switching to layout mode will remove the simulation results and let you modify the simulation.
Objects that have data are indicated by a red symbol in the object’s icon in the Objects
Tree.
You can select a monitor in the Objects Tree to see the list of available results for that
object in the Result View window.
To plot a particular result from a monitor, you can right-click on the monitor in the
Objects Tree, or you can right-click on the result in the Result View window.
To plot the electric field profile, select the “profile” monitor, then right-click
on the “E” result and select “Visualize”.
Since the electric field was recorded at 5 different frequency points, I can select the
“lambda” parameter in the Parameters table and choose which frequency point to plot.
You can similarly visualize the reflection and transmission from the “R” and “T”
monitors by visualizing the “T” result.
You can choose to plot multiple results in the same visualizer window by adding the result
to an existing visualizer.
Since net power is flowing towards the negative z direction, the “T” result from the “T”
monitor has negative values.
Under the attributes table, apply the “-Re” scalar operation to flip the sign of the data
in the plot.
Almost all analysis that can be performed manually in the graphical user interface can
also be done from the script environment.
This script file will generate the same plots that I have just plotted using the Visualizer.
I can click the “Run script” button here in the Script File Editor to run the script
and generate the plots.
A movie monitor was also used in the simulation, so a movie file was saved to the working
directory when I ran the simulation.
The movie can be viewed using a video player.
