Transcript
Doing an EME simulation is a two-step process.
The first step is Finding modes and the second step is Propagating.
Clicking the Run button will start the first step of mode calculations.
The job manager shows the progress of each of the following actions in sequence:
calculating modes, normalizing modes, calculating overlaps, calculating power overlaps
In other words, it finds the modes in each cell, and performs overlap calculations which go into
formulating the scattering matrices for each interface.
The information from the mode calculations will be used in the Propagation step.
To review the solver algorithm related to these actions, see the previous Solver Physics
section.
After Finding modes, the simulation will be switched from Layout mode to Analysis mode,
and the cells will contain results.
If you want to modify your simulation settings, use the switch-to-layout button to switch
back to layout mode which will clear the cell results.
Cell results will be discussed in the next unit.
