The typical simulation workflow when using the FDE solver is as follows:
Setup the simulation objects. Use the find modes button to find the supported.
modes. View the mode profile by selecting a mode
from the mode list, or by right-clicking on the mode in the data analysis group to visualize.
Use built-in analysis tools for power and impedance integration, far field projection,
frequency sweep and overlap calculation.
You can also use script to collect mode data and calculate custom results from script prompt,
script file, or generate custom results from the "data" analysis group.
To export the data, you can use the export option in the analysis tab or the Deck
To use the regular parameter sweep feature, such as to study the effect of changing the
waveguide width, then some additional configuration of the simulation is required.
You need to find the modes for an initial design before setting up the sweep, so that
the mode data is listed in the result drop-down menu of the sweep object.
If you have created custom results in the "data" analysis group using script, these
will also be listed in the result drop-down menu.
To track a mode from the initial design, save the mode to the Deck and use bestoverlap command
to identify the mode since the mode number of a given mode may change over the sweep.
The analysis script must collect all quantities of interest.
Here we just collect the effective index, but you may also want to save the modal field
profiles.
