FDE has two modes of operation - Layout mode and analysis mode.
When you start a new simulation, you are in layout mode, which means you can add and modify
objects in the simulation.
If you see the Run button in the main menu bar, you are in layout mode.
Pressing the Run button will put the simulation in analysis mode and open the Eigenmode Solver
analysis window.
Note that the Run button does not actually run the solver; it simply opens the integrated
analysis window which allows you to configure and run the solver.
Running the Eigensolver, for example, by clicking the Calculate Modes in the modal analysis
tab will also switch the state from layout to analysis mode.
In analysis mode, you cannot modify object properties.
If you attempt to edit an object, a reminder like this will be displayed in the Edit window.
To switch back to layout mode, simply click on the Switch to Layout Mode button here,
or click on the Layout button in the main menu.
After finding modes, modes will be listed in the "data" analysis group which is a child
of the FDE object.
The mode data is saved with the simulation file.
You can also save the mode data as a d-card, which is a data repository generally used
for saving mode data.
D-cards remain in the DECK regardless of layout or analysis mode, so you can copy the desired
mode(s) from the MODE LIST to the DECK if you want to make changes to your simulation
settings, recalculate the modes and compare them with previously found modes.
Unlike the modes in the data analysis group, the data in the Deck and script workspace
are not saved with the simulation file.
