In the “Material” tab, you can set the mesh refinement and the material fitting.
The default mesh refinement is “Conformal Variant 1”, that applies Lumerical’s Conformal
Mesh to all material interfaces.
This is the recommended setting.
You can click on “How do I choose” to get more information on the Knowledge Base.
As we previously discussed in the “Materials” section, broadband fitting is not used by
default.
If you want to perform a frequency sweep, you can enable the fitting here and set the
default parameters for all materials.
Note the material fit properties are linked between the material explorer and the material
tab: when you adjust them in one place, they are automatically changed in the other.
Now let’s have a look at the “Impedance” tab.
“Calculate characteristic impedance” is not enabled by default.
When enabled, it will calculate the impedance over the specified region and return this
as a result for each mode that is found.
This is useful if you perform a parameter sweep to track the impedance.
Otherwise, the impedance can be calculated manually by using the “Power and impedance
integration” tool in the “Modal analysis” tab.
